SES New York 2007 - Aftermath
This was a fantastic show and I have to say I was a little reliant on my dear friend Marie Howell (SEObiker) of Bruce Clay UK, for a few pictures as she can be just as bad as me taking a lot of pictures. However sadly after NYC/SES Marie and Rory lost their camera and Marie was very disappointed. She had a lot of speaker photos and personal sightseeing pictures she wanted to share.
Here are a few I did manage to snap at few after party moments.
One was when we went to an upscale nightclub called Hudson, highly recommended by Yatin. Marie, Rory, Mike Sack, Yatin and I met up Andrew Beckman’s group, Yahoo! and AOL representatives at this sheik club. Tim Mayer, Heather Meeker, Michael Pilla and many others, loved the privacy and the exclusiveness this club exuded. From the decor to the music it was a place to we could enjoy great conversation and the delightful banter.
As the evening progressed tables and chairs were moved. A glass floor was reveled to create a brilliant dance floor. Shortly after a hip DJ took over. We all eased on to the dance floor and were soon dancing to everything from salsa to hip-hop. Rory and Marie too the floor over by storm and showed us how salsa was really supposed to be preformed.
Later, I went back to the hotel and visited with many attendees and speakers just coming in from a local pub.
On Thursday, the last day of the Expo Hall for Search Engine Strategies they had a “Search Bash.” SearchBash was held both hotel bars at the Hilton New York. The Search Bash was sponsored by WebMasterRadio.FM, BruceClay,
and LookSmart. The bars were backed and everyone that attended the show was invited.
I love Search Bash because you can actually see people networking, in an informal environment. Many of the people attending SES travel far and by themselves. The trade shows are perfect for networking and it is because of Search Bashs that many people get to meet with luminaries with in this field at a one to one level. After just a few days most people built a stronger knowledge, alliances, partnerships, hired new employees while others get new jobs.
Hopefully everyone is a bit wiser and more focused on achieving their goals. If not there are always more trade shows.
After Search Bash NYC, a few friends went to relax at a Russian family style restaurant. Here you see Jim Hedger (Markland Media and SiteProNews), Marie Howell (SEObiker), Becky Ryan (Trellian - shameless plug) and Lee Odden (TopRankBlogs)
This was a culinary delight! The restaurant serves specialty vodkas
through out each course from scrumptious starters, including cheese platters, savory meat pastries, various caviars, and the “piece de la resistance” was our main entres!
From the pictures you may think the Vodka was coursing through our veins, but it was truly excellent people, great food, super conversation (i.e. brags, debate, discussions, and witty banter)
A few of us… okay namely Jim Boykin and Lee Odden
showed us how to take “self/solo pictures” and had some technical fun and showed us how to take the most interesting self pictures…
Jim was next:
We truly had a great time and I went to end with the funniest picture after another great show in NYC! Thank you Jim for making this photo and this dinner so memoriable
!
The following day I headed to the airport with Lee Odden (thank you for the ride) met up with Bruce Clay and Lisa Barone. We would have all had dinner together however the itchen had a fire, ran out of salad and eventually just said if your hungry go elsewhere. I sure hope they did find some food. I then met up with WebGuerilla’s - Greg and Barbara Boser, Dax Herrera, and Vince. Dax and I sat by each other as I read the book Dax just wrote called:

Had a blast with you in NYC, as always, and am sooo disappointed committments are stopping me from attending SMX
I am relying on you to party hard enough for us both though, Bec, and I know you will rise to the challenge! Love reading your blog and look forward to the SMX pics too!

Hey Becky, you and Marie are two of the best people I know and it was a lot of fun at the dinner. Oh my, I look a bit serious in that photo.
Can you believe it, after dropping my camera in the glass of water, at that dinner it came back to life 100% a few days later only to get washed in the washing machine and dryer last week. It was time for a new camera anyway.
